The Company “Development S.A.” of the Prefecture of Chania was founded on the initiative of the Prefectural Authority of Chania, the Union of Agricultural Co-operatives of Kydonia-Kissamos and the Organization for the Development of Western Crete (O.A.DY.K.).

The basic objectives of the company comprise the development of various activities, either independently, or in collaboration with other Developmental Authorities and Research – Educational Institutions of the Prefecture, which aim at stimulating the local manpower toward the implementation of investment projects and business studies.

The company also deals with:

• the promotion of local products, especially agricultural and manufactured products,
• the protection and upgrading of the natural environment,
• the safeguard of the area’s cultural heritage,
• the cultural development of the area,
• the quality development of tourism,
• the education and training of the local population, particularly of the young and of those working in the primary sector.

The Board of Directors of the Company, as it was established by the General Assembly of 30/06/2004 and thereafter constituted as a body (ΦΕΚ 11350/13/9/2004), is composed of the following members:

1. Antonios Papaderaki, Prefectural Councillor of Chania – Chairman
2. Napoleon Tzekakis – Vice Chairman – Managing Director
3. Markos Patrelakis – Head of the Technical Services of O.A.DY.K.
4. Constantine Peroulakis – Chairman of the Union of Agricultural Co-operatives of Kydonia-Kissamos
5. Eftychis Daskalakis – Prefectural Councillor of Chania – Member
6. Ioannis Charalambidis – Prefectural Councillor of Chania – Member

The Board’s service lasts three years.
